The Greenhouse Restaurant and Bar
DENTON - Located on 600 North Locust Street is a charming and locally owned restaurant called the Greenhouse Restaurant and Bar, which has made quite the name for themselves thanks to their amazing owner.
The owner, Kennetth Currin, got his start in the restaurant business back in college when he put himself through school by working in restaurants and bars, and eventually started helping friends who were opening their own restaurants.
Kennetth always loved the town of Denton and saw an opportunity to start his own business when he found the building in 1997, back when it was known as Shelby’s flower shop.
“If you look on the walls up here you can see the outline of the old greenhouses that were here, that’s where the name came from and it just fit,” Kennetth said about the building's history.
Kennetth wanted to honor the old greenhouse and so instead of tearing down the original greenhouse they just built on top of it, opening up the restaurant in 1998.
The restaurant has now been around for nearly 25 years and is best known for their menu with its variety of delicious foods that include everything from wood-fire grilled meats to their vegan, friendly salads.
“Denton is an eclectic town, so we have an eclectic menu, so that’s what we try to do,” Kennitth said regarding his restaurant’s unique menu.
The Greenhouse is open every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., except for Friday’s and Saturday’s when they close at 10 p.m. For more information you can visit their website at www.greenhouserestaurantdenton.com, so be sure to check them out!
