After standing for 102 years, the confederate monument on the Denton Square was removed this morning. The monument was originally dedicated and built in 1918, and funded by the United Daughters of the Confederacy. After decades of conflict and continuous social strife, Denton County Commissioners Court decided to remove the monument. This interactive timeline takes you through the monument's history from its birth, to its removal. The monument is set to be relocated within one year from today, and the new location has not yet been decided.
