Today, April 2, several people will be wearing blue in honor of World Autism Awareness Day.
In 2018, the Centers for Disease Control reported that about 1 in 59 children are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This means 1 out out of 37 boys and 1 out of 137 girls will be diagnosed on the spectrum.
People with autism may also have other conditions such as sleep disturbance, gastrointestinal issues and seizures. There is no medical detection for autism, but professionals advise parents to pay attention to their child's developmental milestones.
