Several businesses on the Denton square applied for the downtown reinvestment grants including Jupiter House, The Loophole, and Sweetwater. All three businesses applied for the grant from the Denton Economic Development Board after making infrastructure improvements.
Jupiter House, being the only of the three businesses poised to get the full grant money requested, made quite a few upgrades after it got damaged when there was a fire at the downtown mini mall next door. Some of these improvements are a new patio, commercial kitchen, and asbestos removal.
As of now the businesses are waiting as the grants are waiting to be approved with a meeting of the Economic Development Partnership Board that was scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday. After that, the grants will go to the City Council for the final approval.
