The city of Denton has begun construction on several roads around town in the hopes of making driving in Denton both safer and easier. The roads in Denton have needed to be fixed for quite some time and while this construction will be much appreciated after it is finished, it is taking a heavy toll on students, staff, and residents around the UNT area.
The construction has impacted bus routes, student and resident parking, as well as many damaged sidewalks. Reconstruction on Bernard street started on Jan 4 and stretches from Fannin Street to Eagle Drive and from Eagle Drive to West Chestnut Street. This construction is not blocking Eagle Drive but may affect travel routes for those parking in Lots 41, 40, 38 and 39.
Bernard street, the main road effected, is expected to be completed by April 5. Several other streets that are affected with the current construction are Avenue C, Thomas street, Fulton Street, and Panhandle street.
