If you’re anything like me, the stay-at-home order has sucked away any motivation that I have. But school life must continue, so I wanted to share a list that helps me stay productive during the day, and makes staying home just a little bit more bearable!
Create a separate space to get work done. As tempting as it is to do homework in your bed, this is one of the worst things to do for your productivity. Your body knows your bed as a sleep/relax space. When you try and do work there it not only lessens how efficiently you are working, it can also lead to lack of sleep as your body now sees it as a workspace.
Have snacks on hand! Some people might disagree with this, but I find it always helps to have snacks on hand when I’m studying. This way not only am I feeding my brain, but I now have no excuse to get up and make multiple trips to the kitchen.
Take breaks! Ok, don’t go overboard, but it is important to give yourself a break to prevent burnout. I like to schedule 15-30 minute breaks in between certain tasks so I’m not overwhelmed by my workload. It also prevents me from getting as distracted if I know I have a break coming up if I can just complete this task.
Reward Yourself! This is the most important tip! We’re in a freaking pandemic people!! I get excited when I put on real pants to do something, so don’t be so hard on yourself. If you know you have a particularly hard task or homework assignment coming up, have a treat ready for yourself once you finish! Whether it’s a walk outside, or facetiming your friends make sure it’s something you’ll be motivated to work towards!
