It is no doubt that the current pandemic has changed life in a huge way. Gatherings of large people are no longer allowed. This poses a huge problem for movies and television shows currently in production. There can be hundreds of individuals from executive producers to background extras that work on a production. Because of the new health guidelines, these productions had to be postponed. With a pushback in production, many films had to be removed from their original theatrical dates and moved to dates in the fall and winter (with the idea things will go back to normal then).
UPCOMING BIG MOVIES THAT HAVE BEEN POSTPONED
While this film was originally slated for a March 27th date, it has been moved to July 24th.
WONDER WOMAN 1984
Originally planned for June 2020, now has a release date of August 14th.
Planned for July 3rd, now will be moved to December 11th.
While it is upsetting to see so many movies being pushed back a couple months, some movies that were already slated to come out do not even have a new release date yet. An example is "A quiet Place II". Personally, I was really looking forward to this movie that had a planned release of March 20th. However with all of the new changes, it has been pushed to an unknown date (my guess is in the fall?). Other popular films with no current release date include "The New Mutants", "Spiral", and "Minions: The Rise of Gru".
TV shows are also having their fair share of date changes too. The Walking Dead will be unable to air their season 10 finale as it cannot be edited during this time. The spin-off show "Fear the Walking Dead" had to be stopped mid-production of its upcoming 6th season. I sometimes work on the ladder show as it is filmed here in Texas, so I was upset about its current cancellation but health and safety are a top priority and it should go back to shooting shortly.
Even with these movie premieres and cable TV shows being postponed, most people have some sort of streaming subscription, so get to binge-watching and don't feel guilty about it!
